When the Council On Aging needed more space to meet the diverse educational, recreational, creative and social needs for a growing senior population, they looked to build a full-service community center on property adjacent to their current location. A.D. Davis Construction was selected to build River House based on the company’s reputation for superior work and collaboration with clients. From conception to construction, the River House presented unique challenges requiring innovative and sometimes imaginative perspectives, designs and solutions.

For its work on the Council on Aging’s River House, A.D. Davis received the Horizon Award from the Associated General Contractors of America. The Horizon Award recognizes general contractors for their superior skill, high level of integrity, hard work, ingenuity and commitment to every construction project. The community-minded company donated a percentage of its services to support the work of the Council on Aging.

The finished project, built on the Matanzas River, included a large round ballroom, commercial kitchen, indoor and outdoor dining areas, library, exercise rooms and offices. The space was built for flexibility so that River House could be used for multi-purposes and expand its services as the population grew. River House has been a popular event space for the public for everything from weddings, receptions, fund-raisers, and parties.
